The only way to make great work is to love what you do. And to spend time to improve yourself.
Name: Mohamed Sabry
Job: 3D artist / 3dmax Instructor
3DA: Why have you decided to work in 3d-field and when have you started? Where you studied?
MS: In my childhood I was in love with drawing, I think I have a talent to create anything. So I decided to work in this field. When I finished my college in 2007, I got a scholarship in graphics and multimedia track (from 2008 to 2009). So I learned 3d-subjects there – I studied at Yat education center.
3DA: Which software you usually use for your projects? What has surprised you in positive and/or negative way in the software/plugins for CG during the last year?
MS: I use 3dsMax, VRay, Mental ray and Photoshop for post-production and some other stuff as multiscatter, floor generator script and advpainter_1.6.0 etc. As for surprises from last year, I think they came mainly from CG software especially Z-brush.
3DA: What was most difficult for you when you just started working in 3D? And what is now?
MS: At the beginning it was too hard sometimes to get a good result in rendering and so I was feeling a failure. But I tried again and again… Now of course things are better. So when I see a my works in the beginning and compare them with my current projets, I feel satisfied.
3DA: What you can advise to the students who are just starting their way in CG?
MS: Steve Jobs once said: “The only way to do great work is to love what you do” and this is the first thing. Second – you must spend a lot of time to improve yourself.
3DA: What forecast you can make about the future of 3d-world in general?
MS: I think 3d field will eventually play more important role in other subjects, for example in movies , space science etc .
