With the Cascadeur 2025.3 update, the software introduces early quadruped support, a new experimental viewport rendering system, and improvements to its AI-assisted inbetweening tools.
Cascadeur is a standalone 3D animation software designed for creating and refining keyframe animations, including the cleanup and editing of imported motion data. The following overview takes a closer look at the main features introduced in the 2025.3 update.
Quadruped Support (Alpha)
With version 2025.3, Cascadeur introduces alpha support for quadruped characters. In particular, AutoPose now correctly recognizes quadruped structures and can be used to pose them more effectively. In addition, the Quick Rigging tool has been expanded with a dedicated quadruped tab, allowing users to rig this type of character directly within the software.
As an alpha feature, quadruped support is still in development; however, it opens the door to animating creatures with fewer manual trials and errors.

Filament Viewport Rendering (Experimental)
The update also introduces an experimental viewport rendering system based on Filament, Google’s open-source physically based rendering engine. This change brings visual improvements to the viewport, including support for environment lighting, shadows, and ambient occlusion.
While still experimental, the new renderer provides a more accurate real-time preview of scenes; as a result, animators may better evaluate lighting and spatial relationships during the animation process.

Reworked AI-Assisted Inbetweening
Cascadeur’s AI-assisted inbetweening has been reworked and is now more tightly integrated into the standard animation workflow. Rather than operating as a separate process, AI-driven interpolation can now be combined directly with manually created keyframes.
This selective application allows animators to mix procedural assistance with manual control, making the feature more flexible across different animation styles and production needs.
Additional Improvements
Alongside the main updates, Cascadeur 2025.3 includes several smaller enhancements:
- The Quick Rigging tool now supports twist and untwist bones
- A new context menu has been added to the timeline
- Improvements to the GLB/GLTF importer
- Updated camera object handling
