Juan Fernando Rodríguez interviewed for 3darchitettura: CG, render, 3d, architecture, design

3DA: Why did you decide to work in 3d field and when you started? Where did you study?
JFR: I started to work with 3D in 2002, while studying architecture. I decided to study 3d-art as it is a complement to the architecture and design. At the university it all started with basic 3d, also I studied by myself – by books and internet tutorials.

3DA: What software you usually use for your projects? What surprised you in the software/plugins for CG during the last year?
JFR: For my projects I use Autocad, 3D Max, photoshop – these are the main programs. From the plugins I use vray for 3d max and Nik Collection of google. The more positive in modern software is the ability to express your ideas with excellent results, the more negative is the render times and instability, but this you solve it with a very good machine

3DA: What was most difficult for you when you just start working in 3D? And what is now?
JFR: The hardest part for me was the change from 2D to 3D, and the start to adapt to 3D Max, which is very different from some other cad programs.

3DA: What advice can be given to students who are starting their way in CG?
JFR: The best advice is that you must study hard, and read a lot, and try to learn from the great masters of 3D. Everything valuable requires from you to sacrifice.

3DA: What expectations you have for the future of 3d-world in general?
JFR: The world of 3D is growing more and more, and I think you can get high quality renders with realism more easily than a few years ago. There will come a day when we generate real renders 100% in just 2 minutes.
