Cascadeur opens the 2026 cycle with version 2026.1, introducing Unreal Engine Live Link support, a fully integrated Filament rendering engine, and a new set of AI-powered animation tools.

The following overview highlights the most relevant features introduced in the Cascadeur 2026.1 update.

Unreal Engine Live Link

One of the most anticipated additions is Unreal Engine Live Link support. Users can now stream and preview animations created in Cascadeur directly inside an Unreal Engine scene in real time.

As a result, it becomes much easier to evaluate timing, staging, and overall animation quality within a production context. Like other Live Link solutions, this feature significantly reduces iteration time and improves workflow efficiency.

Notably, this development was supported by Epic MegaGrants, a program designed to foster innovation in real-time 3D technologies.

Full Filament Rendering Integration

Another major milestone is the full integration of the Filament rendering engine. Previously introduced as an experimental feature in the 2025.3 update – wich we analyzed in depth here – it is now a core part of the viewport system.

This integration improves overall stability and performance while providing a more accurate real-time preview. As a result, artists can better evaluate lighting, shading, and spatial relationships during animation.

Root Motion Tool

One of the most interesting additions is the new Root Motion Tool, which introduces an AI-assisted approach to animation generation.

The system analyzes motion characteristics from a reference animation and applies them to a new animation clip. For example, an externally sourced animation with a heavier walking style can be used as a reference to modify a simpler walk cycle. The AI adapts the original animation, transferring weight, timing, and motion feel, while preserving the underlying structure and intent.

Unlike traditional interpolation methods, this tool relies on a diffusion model. Instead of simply blending between keyframes, it generates new motion data while preserving both structure and stylistic intent.

This approach opens up new possibilities for experimenting with animation styles and accelerating iteration.

Collision Penetration Cleaning

Cascadeur 2026.1 also introduces Collision Penetration Cleaning, a tool designed to resolve unwanted body intersections in complex animations.

Traditionally, fixing these issues requires manual cleanup. However, this tool partially automates the process, reducing cleanup time and making it easier to refine animation results.

Constraints in Auto Physics

Another important improvement involves constraints within the Auto Physics system.

Previously, constraints such as attaching an object to a character’s hand could break during physics simulations, causing objects to behave independently. With this update, the solver now enforces constraints during simulation.

As a result, relationships between objects and characters are preserved from the start, leading to more stable and predictable outcomes. This represents a significant time-saving improvement for animation workflows.

Enhanced Quadruped Auto Posing

Finally, the quadruped Auto Posing system introduced in version 2025.3 has been further improved.

The system is now more precise and adaptable, making it better suited for a wider range of creatures such as cats, horses, and similar animals. This enhancement strengthens Cascadeur’s position as a tool for creature animation workflows.
